Abstract
In this research paper, a new fractional-order mathematical model of Hantavirus transmission between humans and rodents is given, focusing on the effects of media awareness as captured by the Caputo fractional derivative, which captures the memory effect inherent in epidemic dynamics. The existence, uniqueness, positivity and boundedness of the solutions have been demonstrated. The basic reproduction numbers of humans and rodents are found using the next-generation matrix approach, the disease-free and endemic equilibrium points have been computed as well. It is shown that they possess global asymptotic stability using Lyapunov theory and LaSalle’s invariance principle for fractional order systems. \textcolor{blue}{The sensitivity analysis shows that the transmission rates and recruitment rates have positive effects on the basic reproduction numbers, whereas the recovery and natural mortality rates have negative effects. The numerical results support the theoretical findings on the global stability of the equilibria and show that increasing the effectiveness of media awareness reduces the infection burden. Moreover, the simulations indicate that decreasing the fractional-order parameter leads to faster convergence toward the equilibrium state. However, variations in the fractional-order parameter do not affect the global stability of the system, while increased media awareness contributes to a reduction in Hantavirus infections.
